We have tried to answer the most common questions here, but a website can only really provide answers of a general nature.  If you have specific questions about your dental health, we strongly recommend arranging an appointment, to allow us to discuss your needs in greater detail.

General questions
If the tooth is dirty, clean the tooth in milk. If that is not available for a few seconds wash the tooth with water or have the patient suck it clean. Try to only touch the crown. Reimplant the tooth in the socket if possible. If the tooth cannot be placed back in the socket, wrap it in plastic wrap or place it in milk or in the patient's mouth inside their cheek. Contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 30 minutes. If after hours, contact the emergency department of the local hospital.
A dull, throbbing painful tooth is unlikely to get better by itself and we recommend arranging an appointment as soon as practicable. In the meantime, over the counter pain relieving medications may be taken. Do not place pain relievers, especially aspirin on or near the tooth. Continue to keep your mouth and teeth clean, removing any obvious debris. If swelling is present, use a cold compress on the cheek.
Clean the tooth with warm water, and save the pieces if possible. Keep the fragments moist and we may be able to bond them back into place. Contact us to arrange an appointment as soon as practicable.
New Patients
The answer to this question depends on the treatment that you are having completed. Where possible we will outline the charges incurred for a particular service. For clinical reasons, this is not always possible, but we will attempt to provide an estimate for the treatment being prescribed on that day. Over the years, we have found that the fees for most of our patient's first visit falls between $200-$300. If you have private health insurance, you will only need to pay the gap between your health fund rebate and our fees. We ask that you settle your account on the day of treatment. We accept cash, EFTPOS, MasterCard, Visa and cheque by prior arrangement.
Medicare Australia does not cover dental services for adults.
The Federal Goverment introduced the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) in January 2014 for eligible children between the ages of 2-17. This scheme covers a range, but not all, of treatments that our practice routinely provides for children. The scheme is limited to $1000 per eligble patient over two years. For patients being treated under the CDBS you must advise us prior to commencing treatment if you intend to use this scheme.
We do not Bulk Bill Medicare for these services and we ask for payment of your account at the conclusion of each appointment. We may be able to offer immediate claiming from Medicare if our reception staff are not too busy, otherwise we ask you submit your claim directly with Medicare Australia.
We are required to check your child's eligibilty at the commencement of each appointment.
We accept all health insurance funds that participate with the HICAPS claiming service. As such, we offer immediate claiming from your health fund through the HICAPS system.
As our first responsibility is to your dental health, and unfortunately, with the large number of different health funds, each offering different types of plans, we are not in a position to advise you of your fund's rebate amount or limits. We recommend that you contact your health fund for more information.
All new patients are required to complete a comprehensive questionnaire regarding the current and previous medical and dental history. Your dental team then review the information and may ask for further clarification if needed. A comprehensive assessment of your teeth, gums and jaws will be taken, and baseline records taken documenting your current dental health. Dental radiographs will also be taken. Unless your appointment if for a toothache, most patients will receive a professional clean at this appointment. A treatment plan will be developed and further appointments arranged if necessary.

Dental radiographs have been a mainstay investigation for dental health for numerous years. Their value in the early detection and treatment of dental disease cannot be understated. Though risk exists for all procedures and investigations, the benefits far out weight the risk of missing dental disease. If you have specific concerns, please talk to us in person on the day of your appointment.
We offer a late night service on Thursday evenings. Unfortunately due to the personal circumstances of our dentist, we have at present suspended our Saturday morning appointments. We hope to be able to offer them again shortly.
Existing Patients
At your last appointment, your dentist will set a recall period within our practice management software. Your recall reminder will be emailed to you in the first instance. If you are unable to schedule your appointment, an SMS reminder will be sent a month later. We will send an Overdue Appointment reminder via Australia Post if we haven't seen you for two years.
You may always get in touch with us and we can see when you are due to come back to see us.
For some patients, access to your previous dental history can be very helpful. Our reception staff can provide you with a form for us to request your records. Similarly if you are moving away, we are more than happy to forward your records to your new dentist. We view continuity of care as an important part of our obligation to you.
